PR & Participation Branding!

If you haven't heard of this project before, then you probably do spend too much time on your phone social networking and do not pay attention to the real life problems happening outside the virtual world. UNICEF tap project created an amazing campaign in order to sensitize people on the need for clean water for children in need and encourage us in helping these kids.


So how long can you go without your phone? Have a look at the video below.

UNICEF is the perfect example of what we call "participation branding" whereby brands encourage people to actively engage and in this case, the message is strong and interpelate just anyone who comes accross it. How long can you go without your phone in order to provide clean water to a child in need? This campaign does not only involve marketing, there is a strong aspect of PR at work here where the message must be both clear and reach out to the right audience. This will be in terms of the communication channels being used as well the way your will present your message to your audience.

PUMA is another example of "participation branding", have a look and see their most creative idea to ecourage engagement online! I find it just amazing! Participation branding is an excellent way to interpellate people and get them interested to your brand. Using PR communication skills is required to ensure the success behind such innovative ideas.
